Hi everyone,
I just came across this today... I'm just absolutely amazed at the articles, videos and pics. Seriously great and inspiring stuff!

In my 20's I earned a blackbelt/instructor certificate in Hwarangdo. After that came marriage and kids and full time jobs. I'm sure many of you can relate at the strength and flexibility you lose and the soft cuddly roundness you gain... ;)
For years I've done pullups on the shelves in my father's machine shop. After getting a desk job, I moved to the playground down the street at 6:30 in the morning. I absolutely love it and have created a 30 min. regiment of different exercises that, at 37 years old, has gotten me to 18 full extension pullups in a row...

...but this place... you guys... oh my GOD! I'm truly impressed and inspired! A place where guys and girls that hate the gym scene, know what true strength means and who share ideas, goals and accomplishments. I'm really looking forward to reading more and learning more! :)

Welcome to the forum. Do you still train in Hwarangdo?

Thanks for the welcome guys :)
No Cheesedog, I haven't been on the mat in 7 years...
I went through my notebook of techniques a few months ago and said to myself: "Damn I used to know some awesome shit!" ;)

Someday when I'm rich and have all the time in the world, I'll have my own little studio/area and teach the neighborhood kids for free... Dare to dream right?

Yeah, I know what you mean. I hate it when real life intrudes on what I want to do...

Hey Sulsa,

Its always great to find another Hwarang. Come back to the mat if you can brother. What Dojang did you study at? If it was in the mid west I might know the place.

Hwarang forever,

Hey WarriorS!
I was in the Northchoast Hwarangdo Academy in Northern California for 7 years.
Now that I'm in Boston, the closest schools are New York and New Jersey :( I'm pretty bummed about that. You are officially my first random Hwarang contact ever! That's awesome.
What schools are you in?
Work hard brother! Hwarang!

I study at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire HRD club. We have close ties with the Minnesota and Illinois schools. Its been real slow going for me since I've been trying to lose weight before hitting the higher levels. I'm a purple belt now and the jump kicks are kicking my ass.

Cheers.
