Hi,
I am a former college basketball player. I am 6'6 and currently 254 lbs. That is a far cry from my playing weight at 225 lbs. My goal is to get back to my playing weight and maintain the lean functional muscle. I want to achieve this using specifically bodyweight training.

I got into bodyweight training a couple months ago. I found a lot of useful info from Craig Ballantyne, contributor to various fitness magazines, and his turbulence training methods.

The reason I got into BW training is because I grew tired of what I call 'the gym culture'. That is, the guys who constantly flex in front of the mirrors all day. The people walking around with protein shakes. The people who have no idea what they are doing, but just utilize the wrong training and wrong machines...yea you get the idea!

I admire those who are interested in bettering people's future by providing this useful information. I am here for you to help and to provide any help I can. I am honored to be a part of the Bodyweight Culture. Let's get it!

Welcome to the forum.

You mean you got tired of frat boys doing concentration curls and two man "forced rep" bench presses (it's all you, dude! they yell at each other.)? Say it ain't so!

I still never get tired of the 300lb 5'4" dude with the purple head strutting around the gym. Always makes me laugh!

So, where would you like to start with your training?

For one thing is , being 6'6 makes you your pullup as hard as a straddle front lever for a lean 5'2 individual , in other words , your relativly weaker
the good part is , that basic stuff is effective and you don't need to look too far.

welcome aboard

As far as my training, I would like someone to suggest a full body workout that I can do, say MWF, cuz I still go play basketball at least 3-4 times per week. I mean I go shoot or somn by myself and get in a couple pick up games on the weekend, but nothing too strenuous.

I eat well. A lot of whole natural foods, nothing too processed. I take a multivitamin and fish oils. I get a lot of protein from chicken breasts and tuna, and I also have a whey powder but rarely use it. It is sort of emergency food.

My BF% is aprox 14%, I'm aiming for sub 10%, can anyone suggest a good program or good exercises? Help is needed fellas!

Push-ups
Squats
Pull-ups
Leg-raises or Sit-ups

You could add Burpees

I mean Im new to this forum, but not a newbie to the whole training thing. The beginner workout is way too easy for me to do. I would say my conditioning and all is more high intermediate to advanced. Prior to finding out about the advanced workouts on BW Culture, my workout consisted of:

20 Regular pushups
20 Squats
15 Close-grip pushups
10 ea. Bulgarian Split Squat
20 Wide Grip Pushups
10 ea. Single leg Rear Deadlift

Circuit was done 3X

What I am looking for is to take my fitness to another level. This being past the maintenance workouts and towards muscle-building, fat shredding bodyweight workouts. Can you guys help find those type of workouts!

ps. I know nutrition is the most important part of cutting body fat, and I adhere to a good diet. Is that article about tuna being unhealthy for you when consumed in large quantities? I read it in the article section
