Brothers and sisters,

Im new here and wanted to say hello from Boston. Wife bought Dr. John Bernadis nutrition course and there is a challenge to lose the most and shape up and win groceries and supplements for one year. So what the hell the old lady and myself signed up and are in the challenge.

I use a mix of tension sets from martial arts, bodyweight and kettlebells. I look forward to seeing what I can do in 4 months and see what transformations can take place.

Look forward to hearing back from others like myself.

be well,

Dale

P.S. Attached is a photo of myself nice and bloated.

Welcome to the forum! Bernardi knows his stuff, if you follow his advice you should do fine.

I for one would be interested in seeing how you mix in the tension sets with BW and KB work, if you have the time.

What a small world. Just joined this forum as well.
I had great results with Ori's Warrior Diet for about six years now. I initially lost 24 pounds in 2 months and have stayed relatively lean since. His info on Estrogen and its relation to weight loss is very useful as well.

Everyone else on this board;
Love this website. Great info. Am exploring Parkour at the moment and am revising my fitness routines to get my fitness up to par to do the basics. Need to work on my running and conditioning, specifically pulling strength for climbing and explosive leg strength for jumping, vaulting etc.

welcome aboard.

Imo, oris diet is mostly wrong but has a grain of truth that makes it somewhat considerable.

The diet is controversial. Most people who have used it think it's THE solution and report excellent results. It does seem to go against the common "6 meals a day" solution (which in my experience isn't wrong, but rather cumbersome and unnecessary). From a scientific viewpoint it seems well researched and has some backing. Most people who have bashed it haven't actually tried it. The guidelines for the diet are kind of complex and not really designed with the financially challenged college kid in mind. To me it makes as much sense as any other "diet" (well, a lot more than the Atkins diet, but that's not saying much), but I tend to make my own rules when it comes to eating so I'm not an expert.

Well , ori states this (according to wikipedia) that it isn't for body recomposition.....

so if you need to drop weight or build muscle ( or both ) it's not for you

Yeah, I'd say about 55% of the stuff on Wikipedia is pure crap. I remember reading an article on "staggered grip bench presses" which were supposed to prevent the bar from slipping out of your grip (like in a deadlift) and making a hole in the ceiling. Also about a couple of guys who posted a bogus article on some revolutionary research, even invented the name of a doctor.

Plus I couldn't find an article on Wiki on either Ori or the diet. It'd seem strange for him to bash his own diet. If it doesn't make you lose weight or build muscle, what DOES it do?

It might have been removed for wrong/contested info.

You should take anything you read on wikipedia with a grain of salt. I read an article about Chuck Norris a few months ago, along with some well-known biographical data it also included the "fact" that his penis was so large it could kill women. WTH?!?!?!

it's supposed to help you with performance and health I think.

and your right about wikipedia... two wrongs don't make a right.

If I had a spare time I could write an article about a giant bear(ursus maximus) the size of an elephant that lives in novaya zemla(a siberian island) , feeds on anything organic it sees and farts fire.
all in a pseudo scientific language... (with citation and all)

and see how long it lasts..

for example theres an article about pilates that's so ridden with mythes about toning that you might wonder if it's an encyclopedia or an ad bulletin.

and I bet every major corporation , politician(look at obamas talk page and people getting banned for nothng) has payed money for people editing wikipedia...(I wonder how much money do admins really make there , must be rich) it really needs a serious competition I think to block that out , you can't rely on it...

@cheesedog , probably vandals , I wonder why the Chuck Norris article has not been locked yet.

Yeah. It does serve a purpose as a general reference point, and usually you can spot the bogus articles (like the bench press grip thing - that was obviously written as a joke). And they do edit a lot of their stuff, it just takes time for them to locate and correct the articles that are wrong. The thing that anyone can edit the articles gives a multi-opinion approach: if there are two sides in an argument, you get to hear both. Still, I avoid quoting it or referring to it if I can help it.

As for political manipulation... that's as old as civilisation. US elections 2001, anyone? :( :(

I don't think wikipedia was common back then...

pluralism is very nice but the problem is when two opinions merge to a middle road that's considered "truth"
thus , two wrongs don't make a right.

IMO wikipedia just needs a competition, not in the wiki format as well.
maybe some powerful indexing engine , I don't know.

but sites like you tube and wikipedia and google make me very concerned about manipulating peoples opinion over stuff...
you just can't morally have a monopole over information.

Hehehe... I totally empathize with that. The topics on the war and political situation in my area are just as bad.
