I just got mine yesterday and they're awesome! A complete portable gym - who could ask for more?

Just wondering whether anyone here uses these, or other brands of cables. I might just re-consider going off the weights for a while :)

I have a similar set of cables from a different company, can't remember which right now. They work great for adding resistance to pushups and such. Also been using them as bands for speed benches, probably not as good as Iron Woody or the like, but a lot cheaper.

The TNT cables are incredible. I don't want to sound like a commercial but these things really do kick butt. The best part is that you can transition very quickly and add or reduce the tension in seconds so your heart rate will stay jacked. The cables that come with them will be plenty of resistance for most men but I found they were to much for a lot of women in the camp that I operate. I think they sell for $39- but their worth it when you consider how long they'll last and how many different exercises you can do. Cable/band workouts are great because unlike weights they are not gravity dependent so you don't need a lot of room and you can carry the cables in your bag.

I use Lifeline cables regularly. I have the chest expander, power push-up, power wheel, 10-12 different cables and several sets of handles. I drilled several eye-bolts into my basement wall and one in the floor to hook the cables up and hit the body from different angles. The cables and a set of Tyler Haas' power rings for pull-ups/dips/push-ups constitute a great chunck of my routine. I'm 6'1" and 220 and have been able to maintain size with this equipment for some time. Much easier on the joints and exerts a continuous resistance that's different than free weight.

Anybody from the UK got Lifeline cables? Ive been trying to find a supplier or a company that will ship over here for a couple of weeks now. I travel constantly due to work and have heard nothing but good things about the TNT bad boys. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I'm from the Uk and I can't find any international suppliers either. Does anyone know of a UK equivalent?

I have a set of resistance bands, though not TNT variety. My version is from Bodylastics. They work very well, and the little door attachment is great. I see they just came out with a Terrel Owens edition with stronger cables, but I'm not gonna go there. I would just purchase one of the stronger cables as a single buy. They do not change as quickly as the TNT ones, but they are very handy nonetheless. For the UK guys, I have no idea, Sorry.

I thought Lifeline ships to the UK. It'll be a little more expensive, but still I can't imagine it to be too costly. I.e. order from the US site and have them shipped over.

Hi,

For all of us here in the UK we can order TNT cables from Lifeline USA, the down side $49.00 shipping and handling. Now for some good news... there's a UK supplier at questfitness (http://www.questfitness.co.uk), though it's not obvious from the website. So I emailed info@questfitness.co.uk the company and yes they are Lifeline product suppliers.

Now I'm just awaiting further info as regards price etc.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I've finally got some TNT (R6) cables. Now I can figure out how to do upper-body exercises. But do any of you guys have any methods/techniques for mimicking squats/deadlifts and the like?

I haven't yet stepped in the direction of buying any of the cables, but I plan to for traveling purposes... I travel a ton for work, and something tells me carrying around my kettlebell would be a bad idea ;)

I do however have the power wheel II thing from Lifeline, and I love it!!!! Seriously, I do not think there is anything else out there better for building insane core stability. I whitewater kayak a ton, and its amazing how much more powerful my movements feel because of the strength gained with that thing. I have however renamed it. Power wheel doesn't describe it quite well enough, so me and friends have dubbed the thing "the Wheel of Death" :D It's catchy.

I am preparing a list of cable exercises for all muscles of the body. Once it's ready, I'll post a link or e-mail it to people's addresses.

I have had the TNT power cable now for almost a year and it is the best and most used training device that I have. I have the r4 cables and also the r8 cables and will soon be purchasing the r10 cables. I also have an abundance of other Lifeline single cables that I interchange with the handles. I have rigged up some eyebolts at various heights on side posts of my pull up bars and can basically perform any exercise with the bands. And just to let you know how powerful these bands are I havent bench pressed since May and last month was spotting my son bench pressing and still was able to get 225 for 15.

Awesome Fatman. I'd love to see what you've put together.

I use the cables for working out as well as recuperating sore muscles and joints. I love the idea of building strength and healing at the same time.

They are pretty amazing. Strength training with cables is very different from that with weights.

I have made the document in Excel (why? I do everything in Excel. Excel rules my life). It's just a table with exercise descriptions. Was thinking about writing a nice and comprehensive guide to go with it.

If you're really interested, send me your e-mail and I can send it to you. It looks better as .html.

I travel a lot too. I do take my kettlebell though. I get some strange looks when I carry it in but tend not to pay attention anymore. Make for a great workout too (as long as you have enough room to miss the tv set).

I may start traveling with a cable as well. I have one but can't remember the brand right now.

Hi, I got mine from Questfitness.co.uk. The owner is a guy called Joel .... he is very helpful and orders are sent fast. I love the TNT cables. Also have the Power Pushup which adds amazing resistance to several exercises including dips. Definitely recommend them. Colin

the one for 99.81 is a complete system up to 254lbs

The Lifeline looks like you need to purchase different resistance bands? Maybe someone can confirm this.

Fatman
Mar 14, 2008, 04:26 PM
Lifeline grades their cables based on how much resistance is required to stretch them fully (6 feet).

E.g. the red cables offer 40 lbs of resistance at full stretch (per cable). You can combine 3 in a TNT set, so that would be 120 lbs (per arm).

If you use them properly, three red cables can be all you need for a long, long time. Three yellows (60 lbs. per cable, or next step up from the reds) is quite enough for me on most exercises. Properly pulling/pressing 3 black cables in a set is for extra-terrestrial life forms.

Fatman, So the maximum they can be stretched is 6 feet? What is the length of the cables when they are not stretched? I thought they could be stretched alot further.

Also, how do the TNT Bands stand up against Iron Woody Bands? I use them regularly, for band sprints (ive been advised against using tubing based bands or cables for this as they may not be strong enough) and numerous pressing type movements. even rowing variations.

Id be interested in seeing your exercise list too.

Thanks.

I also like to double up the cables for more resistance and a shorter range of motion and do chest expander - type movements.

Send me your e-mail and $5.95 and you'll get the list of exercises.

(nah, just the e-mail will be enough). :):)

Ive began using cables after reading the great cable manual. Ive purchesed different types and was surprised on the variety of excercises you have at your desposial. I began with 1 set of 15 all over after my Karate class and felt the total length of my muscles and tendons were getting work. I liked the way that they allow you to use flexible force along stirking lines, apossed to punching with weights as the load pulls down.
