Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself and thank you all for this great website. I signed up earlier this weekend and just couldn't stop looking through the forum. But here I am now to say hello.
First off, let me begin by saying I officially got into fitness about 4 yrs ago. It started off with my grandmother having diabetes and seeing what it did to her. I began to do some investigation and realized if I didn't change my diet and start exercising I would be a prime candidate for this disease too. I then decided to do something about it now when I can. So began my life in fitness and nutrition. And boy, let me tell you. I did a complete 180 in 5 months. I lost 35 pounds and 3 inches off my waist. I work in retail and it was so funny I had some people that knew me asking if everything was ok in my life. As if some cancer's disease was taking my health. When they realize I meant to lose that wait and worked hard for it, they congratulated me and asked for my secret. Now I stand at 30yrs old 5'9" and 167lbs (gain back 10 mostly muscle now) with about 14% body fat (last time I checked).
Well now, 4 years have gone by and I've been hitting the gym doing my cardio and always looking for new workouts. At first I started out with the traditional 3x10 and add a little weight each week and going to the gym about 3 times a week (still do). After about a 1.5 almost 2 years I started to learn more about compound exercise. I was already doing some not realizing it, but was learning the benefits of it over isolation. Thus began my research looking for new compound moves to do and changing my routine to complement them. From there I moved on to total body workouts (articles I found on the mens health website). Which were suppose to help burn more fat and build bigger muscle. Again changing over and looking for more workout on TB. You tube has also been great for research and demonstration.
Even after I thought I found 3 good workouts that I could rotate throughout the year I still would search and search and search for something else. Good thing that I did. Thats when I cam across an interview on T-Nation with Christopher Sommer. I'm sure most of you have heard and read it. I've always wonder what kind of a workout gymnast do, they're all always so ripped. I've even tried looking on-line and you tube, but I always just see them practicing. After reading Christopher Sommer interview and his article on how to building an olympic body it all made sense. They weren't just practicing they were in a sense working out. I've been a BW believer after that. Soon after I discovered you guys and here I am.
Sorry for the long intro hello but I just wanted everyone to know where I was coming from and look forward to being a part of this site. As of now I'm practicing my frog stand and working on my support position on my newly bought elite rings. I'm planning on doing BW for the most part of the week and probably hit the gym once a week for some important compound exercise, such as squats, deadlifts, cleans and woodchopper. By the way those rings in just the support position really gave me a work out, I couldn't believe how much my hands and arms shook in what I thought would be a simple move. Also for the first time yesterday I did some pseudo planche pushups, and boy can I feel it today. Very exciting time for me. Again sorry so long.
