If you are talking about the rollers that are essentially a stick with a piece of rope attached, from which hangs a weight that you roll up towards the stick, yes. I've used them, and they work right well. I need to make one, as I want to work my foreamrs a bit more (to up my deadlifts).

All of them. Seriously. Those muscles that aren't used for moving your fist out as quickly and strongly as possible are used to stabilise the fist and absorb impact.

Your arm muscles aren't really the important ones for most punches though. Your power is generated in your legs and torso, and only transmitted by your arms. And, more importantly, you can't deliver any power unless your stance and timing are correct.

*shrug* I wasn't doing any sort of MA when I was using it, so I have no idea if it had any sort of effect on punching power.

The wrist roller is a great way to really tighten up your forearm and make it stronger for wrist flexion and extension. There is an ancillary effect on grip as well, as you are utilising your crushing grip to hold the roller.

Did I experience great increases in strength? Nope, but my forearms are pretty thick anyway from 20+ years of twisting wrenches and such while working on cars. Almost every forearms exercise I've ever tried netted very little benefit. Then again, it is largely because I could never find anything with the sort of resistance that was usefull for me. The wrist roller that I have planned to build will handle all sorts of weight.
