Yo yo, I know people talk about them a bit and one dude on here was actually cool enough to show how to construct your own rings but I am pondering buying/making a pair of rings and just wanted some feedback from people that use them. Do you find you get a better pump using them instead of a regular pull up bar or dip bars?

You should get more pump. Anything less stable will give you a better pump. Now after I said this, let me ask "What pump are you talking about?"

Take a look at Blaststraps from EliteFTS.com

They're not rings, but will do much of what we wants rings for, and they're less expensive than Power Rings.

You want rings? They're easy as hell to make.

2-3/4 or 1 inch pieces of pvc plastic about the same length as a can of paint is round.
1- piece of 4 foot rope.
1-blowtorch
1-bucket of cold water or hose
1-paint can

Run the rope through the inside of the PVC and tie both ends together to make a triangle and hang from a hook, with the PVC being the bottom piece of the triangle shape.
Next heat up the entire piece if PVC til it turns brown and sags, the intire piece must be soft, not just the center.
Now, unhook and gently wrap the PVC around the paint can, hold it there firmly and once you have the shape desired cool it off with water. Wrap with athletic tape and run some adjustable nylon straps through them and VOILA you got rings for dirt cheap.

I swear by this method I have been using the same pair for 2 years.

That's a darned good idea. I will probably try that. The only I will add to it is to make VERY sure that the area you're heating the PVC in is VERY well ventilated. Heating PVC with something as hot as a blowtorch causes a number of unpleasant chemical to volatise off. It won't kill you, but it can make you sick.
