Wanted to share my goal with all you guys. Basically, I'm going to train for a year, it's going to be my main goal and focus. My working out will continue, absolutely, but i'm at a time in my life where I need something to keep me on the straight and narrow, and with no real career goals in mind, what a time to achieve something worthwhile. I'm 17 btw, I'll be 18 and 4 months by race day. You actually have to be 18 to run in this event, I will probably be the only one my age crazy enough to do it but still, I am confident in myself, I have never not reached a goal I have aimed for.
The race is in a year, the anual event was just held this last sunday, 4 days ago. But don't get me wrong, I'm going there to compete. I know everyone under the sun would tell me I don't have a chance, and some of these guys have been running for years, most of the winners are about 30, but I refuse to let anyone tell me it's impossible I can finish strong, if not win the event. As I said, I am incredibly passionate about this, and no one is going to train harder than I will for this year. A year is an incredibly long time to prepare when you are slogging your guts out.
Anyways I wanted to share this with you guys, I might share some of my training progress with you guys along the way, I also plan to run some local events along the way too, to keep myself in check. I know my times and know what I need to be able to do, I am more than confident I can go to this and make a strong showing.
