Hello, basically i used to be quite fit but ive let myself slip (a long way), my new job means im often out of the county and unable to use a gym. Ideally i would like to lose fat and gain muscle. My problem is that i dont really have anyone to talk to about all these shanaigans so i often find myself trying to work everythign out completely by myself... So this place seems ideal.... So thats me in a nutshell....

Hi Nick,
it seems like you found the right place.

I am in similar situation.
I was able to get bodyweight exercises into my work.

20 squats during this break, 10 pushups during that break really goes a long way.

Welcome aboard , As you can see a lot of people post here but not a lot of them stay , so I hope you will stay...

just don't try to loose weight and add muscle ( or even worse ""tone up"" ) since well , basicly you can't do it effectively , or if your more advanced with some muscle on you already , can't do it at all.

You have to make a long term plan and deadlines for your goals ( with soem priority ) and try to reach \ exeed them , also make a short term plan , witth stuff like " emphesize my triceps , so untill next week ill add two more reps on diamond pushups " etc

and oviously a log tracking your progress with all the details you can muster ( don't worry about it messing up just stick up a date to every day )

so when you are cutting down your fat , and instead of "climbing down the weight" you fall out alogn with your muscle mass , and you will know how to up your calories , after a year this will pay you up for big time since you will know your body very well it's limits in training and it's metabolism

I know if I did it when I was a noob I'd be bigger and stronger by now.......
