alright so i cannot do handstand push ups or 1 arm push ups yet
or pull ups

is what i am doing good to train for them?

i do 3 sets of high repetition push ups(reg onse)-to trainf or 1 arm
i do 3 sets of dive bombers to train for handstand push up.

few q's aboput pullups/chin ups/rows

do rows help build the pullup muscles?
whats the difference in pullups/chin ups what muscles work diff?
would doing chin ups be just as good and leaving pullups out?

not too sure when i'll be able to do hspu's pullups or 1 arm push ups but i hope i'm training correctly

ps-assuming koltz reads this, have you served yet?

some niffty progressions that you could use
for pullups:

1.Bodyweight Rows (aka fatman pullup) you do ap ullup on a low bar ( or a broomstick on two chairs) with your legs on the floor,

2.Kip ups , Hang onto the bar , tuck up your legs , when you pullup drop them so your not pulling up all the weight

3.Static holds after the kip ups , very effective IMO

don't do too many reps ... stick to the harder stuff you can't do more then 8 reps.

for HSPUs:
divebombers are okey , but doing high incline bent pushups ( pushups with your feet on a table or wall on a >45 angle bent at your hips so your shoudlers face the floor... is a bit more chalenging

Also you should do some dips or chair dips on the way to one arm pushups they train the muscles ivolved a bit harder then normal pushups and morel ike a one arm pushup in terms of form....

You can also do the progressions listed on my upper body BW excersise tutorial ( link on my siggy) with the sets listed and 8 reps day in day out.

As for the muscles worked : Not exactly the same muscles but the same main muscles ivolved (the back and biceps \ brachilias)

I reccomend doing over hand under hand wide and narrow grips for overall rowing\back\upper arm\grip development instead of focusing one grip, Ive been doing pullups very often a while ago but no chins , in the end I could chin less then I did pullups while the chin is considered easier

HSPUS , pullups and dips are still witin the modrate strength range that can be achieved fast by most people without any complex training and good genetics \ body frame so I am sure you will have them all in the next few monthes

and no I haven't served in the army yet , I live in israel however and theres a semi mandatory enrolment into the army becasue of the condition the country is at (A lot of people won't accept israel as a non muslim state per se andmany others support them)
So next year (@18) I probably will be serving for 3 years I think doing basic training and all that

you guno learn some krav maga? 8)
oh and my goal is that in about a month or 2 i will be able to switch my rows/dive bombers over to pullups and handstand push ups. not sure if i will be able to do 1 arm push ups but can always try =p
