hey all--i'm 16, live in Santa Cruz, CA, and run cross-country and play basketball for my school. For the past few years i've been "working out", but not really seriously -- mostly just pushups and curls -- and only recently have i started a balanced workout routine (which i'll post sometime later, in the proper section). From lurking the forums, and from a few other sources, it seems that cross-country running is considered detrimental to working-out? What's that all about? I've been running for years, have very very little body-fat, and don't really want to bulk up to be HUGE, but just want to fill out a bit more (i'm very wiry).

Also, i've been doing parkour for a while; i'm not excellent, but it's fun and i've learned quite a bit.

welcome aboard , it's all about clear short and long term goals and means to achieve them.

you say you wanna bulk up and add mass to a proportion so basicly you just do your best to it untill your satisfied ,

Any leg work on regular basis will get you hurt fast.

unless it's too easy on you and won't advance you foreward well enough
