Hello, everyone.

I'm a an 18-year-old freshman at CSU. I am a non-contracted Army ROTC cadet on the Ranger Challenge "Bravo" Team, and I'm always looking to increase my number of pushups, situps, flutterkicks, etc. My biggest concern right now is lower body strength and endurance, but upper body is an issue as well. I need to get better at marching very fast with a heavy pack. So, I guess that's my intro question. Does anyone have any tips for getting better at that? Body weight exercises are fine, if they work. :)

Hi Muskrat,

Welcome.

The best way to train for marching with a heavy bag is marching with a heavy bag.

For pushups we have a specific program as far as increasing the reps.

Situps and flutter kicks together, they go heavy on the abs ha?

Where do they have you hold your hands when you do the situps?

Once in a while it's good to try more difficult variations of those, so that the muscle fibers responsible for target movements get some rest.
