Hi, my name is corey I'm 32 and am a lobster fisherman from maine. I started doing bwe last winter, I liked bwe better than weights because I like the way I feel from doing them. I'm not knocking working out with weights bwe just seems to suit me better. But right now I'm limited to only leg exercises because I screwed my shoulder up doing dips about 6 weeks ago, so no pushing exercises for probably 2-3 months :( I really like this forum I wish I had found it sooner.

Welcome vhp01,

We are glad you found us.

Sorry about your injury.

See if you can massage the injured muscle. If it has been few weeks after the injury, apply deep pressure. Hold the pressure on the sore spots before moving on.
Also use heat pad.
That should speed up your recovery.
In mean while get your midsection and legs into the best possible shape.

I've injured my shoulder like this before a few years ago and it took quite a while before I could do any pressing movements with it again. The only good news about it is that this time I didnt hurt it half as bad as before. It takes me so damn long to heal because I do alot of pushing at work. But it's been feeling pretty good the last few weeks i'm going to test it with a few push ups the 1st of november. It won't hurt when I do them but if my shoulders not ready I will feel it the next day and have to wait longer :x before I can try again. And I have been working legs and abs, feels weird working out and only doing legs and abs. When my shoulder is ready I plan on working towards doing a 1 arm pu.
thanks for the reply and I'm glad I found this site too

Have you found out what the injury is?
Many trainers are quick to yell "rotator cuff, rotator cuff", but your shoulder girdle and your neck must be rehabed as well.

Let us know how the first pushing day goes.

I think it's my front deltoid, I tried putting pressure on it and massaging it and it seems to help thanks. Sitting at the damn computer doesnt do it any favors though  I'll let you know how it goes.

vhph1 take careful on how you sleep the night,
try to not sleep on your hurted arm or it will be longer to heal.
You can use an attachment on your hurted arm when going to sleep so your arm don't move any side

Yes thanks chico I've found out that if I sleep the wrong way its a litlle stiff in the morning. I've either been laying the right way or it's getting better, a combination of both I believe. I'm just making sure it fully healed before i try anything.

Well I've waited long enough, my shoulder has been feeling fine so I did 5 push ups tonight just to test it. Everything felt good, now I just have to wait until tomorrow to see if it's ready to continue with pushups.

How did you screw your shoulders? I'm doing quite a lot of dips right now and I'd rather avoid it

I messed my shoulder trying to do more reps than I was ready for, I lost my balance and leaned to far to the side or something and did something to my right shoulder front deltiod I think. But everything seems to be ok today so I'll keep going with pushups for a while. I don't know if I'll ever go back to dips or not. It took me a while to get strong enough just to do a few reps, I weigh 240(down to 230 now) yeah I know I'm a fatty but I'm workling on that too. I could eat lobsters pretty much whenever I want, but don't really care for them that much. I'll have a chowder 2 or 3 times a year but that's about it.

Lobster doesn't do a thing for me either.
