I've lurked here before and contributed even a couple of times...
Bio:
Married, 3 kids, medium stress
48 years old
5'9", 145 lbs this morning
Last measured BF, 9%
I dropped doing the heavy weights about 6 years ago when I hit all my targets and was about 40 pounds heavier. In my quest to add mass via weights and eating, I inadvertently added type II to my dosier of ailments. My stupidity knows no bounds... as a result I'm much more consious of diet, including no carbs in the form of breads, pasta, sweets, etc. (breakfast cerial however, I do have -- Kashi is my current favorite).
The ideal meal for me now is a t-bone steak, salad and big ol' glass of cabernet.
On the workout side, I'm very much into a combination of bodyweight work (this morning's effort consisted of 500 pushups done in 5 sets of 100) and work with 2 16 Kg kettlebells (did 625 deadlifts, also spread across 5 sets). In between I did 5 sets of 4 minutes on the stationary bike, I got at Academy Sports for $80. Here's how it broke down:
60 PU's, 125 DL's, 40 PU's, 4 minutes bike... repeat 5 times.
Last night, was 100 kb one armed overhead swings combined with 20 minutes on the bike.
The goal of this work is to get my glucose down -- steady state movement done for at least 40 minutes at a medium HR level seems to work best.
That's it...
