Anyone know of any good isometric breathing exercises besides the farmer burns stomach flattener and the vacuum? the FBSF has been working wonders for me, i'm just curious to know if there is anything like it but better.

the Farmer Burns Stomach Flattener is...
1) Stand feet shoulder width apart and relax your upper body
2) Take the deepest breath you can without letting you chest or stomach expand
3) Close your throat tightly and breath out as forcfully as possible (it should feel like you're pushing the air out with your stomach, other wise you could be very light headed) at the same time, tighten your abs as hard as possible
4) the reps should only last about as long as a vacuum (6-20 sec.)
5) get rid of all of your breath before each rep
6) DO ON AN EMPTY STOMACH
after i started this up, the same week i had a friend punch me in the stomach as hard as he could and he almost sprained his wrist. now my ab wall is a brick wall. this exercise also helps your digestive system.

you cannot isometrically breathe. to breathe one must contact and relax diaphragm. yoga breathing exercises control rate of inspration and expiration to various ratios rates like 5:1. a common one is known as the breathe of fire. quick short bursts of inhalations/ exhalations done thru the nostrils, mouth closed. to a one count. do it for one minute.
you can stand or more common is to sit cross legged hands on knees or sit on knees w/ hands on knees.
then there are one nostril breathing exercises as well.
matching your breathe to movements is also a great benefit. when doing reps, link inhaling to negative portion of rep and exhaling to positive portion of rep.
also, lay flat on floor, face up. place a sand bag or 20, 30, 40, 50 lbs weight on belly. breathe for 5 minutes.

breathing is, by definition, movement(inspiration/exhalation). holding one's breathe is not breathing. the isometric contraction which happens, is not the inspiration muscles. you can get the exact same benefit from that exercise you described by breathing thru it and keeping midsection contracted, minus any of the bloodpressure risks, oxyen deprivation which diminishes strength etc..
when holding any isometric contraction exercise, it is advisable to breathe thru the isometric contraction. plus you get more power if you learrn simple techniques like power breathing etc. any exercise is more powerful with good breathing technique.

I think it's called "ab isolation".
You do a Vacuum and then bend forward and place yur hands on your knees, perhaps you should squat down a little bit.
I hope you know what I mean.

PS: I also would like to see other "breathing ab exercices".
