A little story of what happened today.
One of my boys is a life guard. Most mondays we chill.
He looks like model, in great shape. ( I am not gay) [-X
99% of the time we do bodyweight exercises. Also swim, run, bike and wall climb on the top of that.
They have a gym right next to the office. So before, after, and during shift breaks, they workout.
Girls are all around, so you must look good. Most lifeguards pump up every hour or so.
Me and my friend do push ups, dips, pullups, and now some other stuff we got off this site.
You probably guessed right by now that most guys do bench, curls, squats, etc.

And of coarse everyother joke is directed at us. One guy in particular always challanges us.
So today my friend told him that both of them don't do burpees, why not see who can do more. It's difficult to cheat with burpees. Of coarse that did not go without a few gay jokes. I mean "burpee" use your imagination.
So they started, the guy who benches more than twice his body weight and other stuff, was able to do under 30. My friend went up to 50 something and could have keept going.
So the other guy is not embarassed, so he goes "What would I need burpees for?"
The response- what would you need bench press for?

This is a stupid question , it's like having a sprinter compete in a marathon.

if you asked him why he needs a bench press that;s the same as asking yourself why you need pushups
damit resistance is resistance...

Well the question was asked just to show how stupid the original one was.

Some people excell at body weight and some do at weight lifting. Our job is not to convert people. It's more to help bodyweight liking people to find the way.

Do burpees have some special or specific value for athletes?

Do burpees have some special or specific value for athletes?

Anaerobic endurance, some strength endurance, can increase vertical jump due the explosive nature of the exercise as long as your are not fatigued.
