Anyone ever do 2 or 3 finger pullups?
I had seen some pics of people doing them and wanted to see how much different it felt (and the difficulty level). So I tried them last night.
The 3 finger ones really werent much different from reglar ones, but the 2 finger were much harder (for me at least).
I may add these in for a grip finisher sometimes now. I guess it would be neat to be proficient at them.

3 finger as in 3 fingers on one arm, 2 fingers on one arm and one on the other or 3 on each arm?
Yesterday I surprised myself when I tried to pull with two fingers per arm... and it worked
Which two fingers are we talking about.
I can do a few pull ups with index and middle fingers. I can't do with ring and pinky. Also any three is possible. A friend of mine injured his fingers when he was experimenting with this few years ago. So be carefull guys.

yes, I am referring to 2 fingers for each hand, but both hands simultaneously. And yes, the index and middle finger for the 2-finger version.

Yep I can do pullups with any combination oof fingers except my thumb and pinky. takes soem concitration...
Moutain climbers do it all the time. It's a matter of progressing just like anything else.
I don't think the finger is designed to suppor the body weight, but with training it is possible. My concern is that not everyone has the patience for slow progress.
I would work on hanging with different finers first.
If you can hang with 2 finger for a while you will be able to do pull ups on 2-3 fingers.
I think besides lessening the strength, you also confuses the nervous system. It begins to think "What do I contract, what do I not contract?" and in mean while less motor units are recruted and strength is lessened.

It's not like people are doing them all the time , finger pullups are indeed just show or self trail , hard grip is important and finger hangs are oen of the best ways to do it
But the stronger individual finger is the stronger overall grip will be.

I would love to be able to do a little finger one armed chinup!
slightly off topic but has anyone tried no handed pullups/chinups before? - eg. curling the wrist over the bar.

a great way to ruin your wirst.. don't bother working for it that hard if you can do it great but I belive in gripping as hard as you acn with all youve got instead of a bunch of fingers...

you have to have a a good grip strength compared to your BW to be able to do 3 finger pull-ups, thats if you can already do regular pull-ups, try doing some farmers walks, to get your grip strength up, or hanging with one hand or two hands (depending on your current grip strength) from a towel that is wrapped around a pull-up bar

I actually started doing these aswell. With 2 fingers Index and middle then I do 3 fingers with pink, ring, middle. I feel after doing both my grip has improved.
I also use the lat pull downs with light weight using only my finger tips I feel more isolation on these.
