View Full Version : How often do you change your routine?
Right now I train for looks. I use the chest, back and shoulder routine, which come up pretty usefull. I go to the beach allot so I need to look good. At the end of the summer I will switch to more general conditioning.
Pretty much I train all year but exercises are different. Summer is usually the major muscles training time. Quads, calves, chest, back, shoulders, arms, abds. Spring and fall it's more like general stuff, rope climing, ab wheel, running jumping. Winter is strength. One arm one, leg stuff. For past few years I felt into this routine and it works for me.
Just wondering how do you guys change or not change your routine as the year turns.

I change it when I really get bored, but I only change a few exercises that workout the same muscles.
It seems like you loose strength and gain strength depending on what you do. You do one arm pull ups for a while and than go to two arms pull ups, you would loose strength.
P.S. If you do one arm pull ups for a while and than go to two arms, how do your numbers look?

someone who trains for either hypertrophy or strength won't loose either one switching in between.

I change my routine every 3-6 months.
I read somewhere that if you can do 3 one arm pulls/chins and haven't worked on two handed version. And you try the two handed version, you should be able to do 15-20 regular one's.
