View Full Version : Running on hands and feet.
Running on hands and feet is a weird exercise. One time I saw a karate class use it in the warm up. Basically you are in the push up position and your knees are bent more than normal.
You run forward and back like that. It's an amazing over all body work out, try it.
I remember that in a gym class. We would race like that. Next day you are sore and don't know why.
Don't really know what skill it helps with or what it is for.
How about moving around in the crab position. You are on hands and feet, but your stomach is facing up. That works all the muscles in your back.

That is very non-specific. It's a new exercise for someone who has not done it, so soreness will be felt. It may also be used to strengthen certain muscles. But overall, I don't know.
Doesn't it help you to run backwards?

In my BJJ/submission group, we do army crawls amongst other things to warm up.

We walk on our hands in our karate dojo. I think more than anything it helps with balance and builds the shoulders.
