I do,
as long as you make sure that the back is flat, you are fine.

Tight hip flexors will cause back problems.
Always stretch the hip flexors
when you do those leg lifts.

Don't let your legs go on the floor.

And if the small of the back comes of the floor, tighten the stomach and don't go any lower.

How do you stretch the hip flexors?

You know how you stretch the quads, just pull the leg back more, so that you knee goes back. Don't stretch more than your foot touches your butt.
