Hi....I'm really glad I found this forum!!!! I'm a 43 year old guy trying to lose weight and get into shape. I'm currently 6' tall and weigh in at 233.
I've started the weight loss part and lost about 10 lbs in fat in a couple of weeks. I just started cardio and would really like to add some strength training to my routine. I went from 230 to 185 about six years ago with out doing any type of physical exercise...I kept most of the weight off for 3 years until I let it pile back on. I truly believe I would have kept the weight off if I had started a training program early on, so I'm not going to make the same mistake this time.
I'm mainly interested in losing most of my body fat and gaining strength and stamina. I'm not really interested is size or getting really cut, Just being "toned" and in shape.
I'm in really poor condition now, especially with my upper body strength. I can only do one chin up (probably no pullups) and only about 15 pushups. So I guess I have a long way to go. My cardio is even worse. The high intensity training really appeals to me, but I started on an eliptical to get my heart used to working again.
I've been reading the forums and have some basic ideas of what I need to do. Any suggestions would definately be welcome!!!
Well, thanks for running a very helpfull site and hopefully I won't be too much of a bother on the forums.
