Hello I am new to this forum and this is my first post, so you know I will be asking questions.

Basically I just want to get into shape. I want to focus more on explosive power, stamina and speed with a minor emphasis on strength. I really don’t have any “set in stone” goals but I would like to get rid of this small (but very present) layer of flab on me. I also enjoy having more energy then I know what to do with and moving faster then people can react. I am pretty much looking for exercises that can assist in general marital arts, hopefully theses are the right areas to work on. As for where I am at right now shape wise, I could be considered a lower intermediate.

P.S. How long does it take people to reply on this forum?

Not long depends on who's on though. Try sprints for speed (hiit training-sprint-jog-sprint etc). Should help with leg speed. Also jump rope like a maniac. Great for endurance and overall conditioning. Learn to relax when throwing punches and kicks, only tensing at the last moment before impact. Should speed things up a bit. Good luck

Hey, welcome to the forum!

Do lots of plyometrics-box jumps, frog jumps, plymetric pullups if you can, clap pushups and stuff like that. Jump rope and HIIT are also good, as exmootie said.
Sledgehammer swings (on a tire), medicine ball slams, and cable training movements also build explosive power.

The cables are especially good for martial arts striking and grappling (throws). They add resistance without slowing you down too much. Also do a lot of heavy bag work for powerful blows.

Also, kettlebells and clubbells (if you can afford it) are great for martial arts strength.

There are really quite alot of methods for building explosive power.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask! Also, start a workout log so we can see what you're doing and offer advice.

Good Idea with the kettlebell and clubbells, I have been looking for somthing like that.

I will defanatly add those to my cycle, one question though, should I do strength training and plyo training on the same day?
