I got one. Exercices like static plank or side plank are a lot harder with it. there is an unlimited amount of variations of the usual exercices someone do with a stability ball. On youtube I found a channel with some good and some less good exercices.

there is a plenty of this kind on the net but this one doesn't show off and doesn't promise you thing you won't get training hard.

Interesting... I've been under the impression for so long that these little swiss balls are useless for a young guy like me.

I use it almost every day. I only use it to balance on tho. I'm pretty good on my knees, my goal is to stand on it. It's going to be a while before I learn how to stand on it.
For me, it's more fun than exercise. It think I'm getting some exercise out of it tho.
Oh, I use it for pushups too. Doing pushups with my hands on the ball is very challenging for me right now. Doing pushups with my legs on it is more of a warmup exercise for me.

Sorry fellas, like this. Minus this stud doing the jump, and the med ball. This has got to be an exercise reserved for elite athletes like we desire to be.

Awesome! You can bet I'm gonna try it at the gym A.S.A.P. (proabably when nobody's around to see me fall on my face a couple times).

Did 1 set of 10 this morning, balance assisted ( kept me from breaking my neck). Then watched videos on how to get on the ball, a very tricky part in itself. Had the ball leaning against a couch so it couldn't roll forward. Then had walls within reach left and right just incase. What an incredible BWE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, that kid is a freak (in a good way). I'll be happy if I can just learn to stand on it for a minute or so.
BTW, that other kid in the background was using an Indo board. That's on my schedule of purchases, probably next spring. I still need to work on my unicycle skills, before I add another toy.

I used a balance board once per week at the Posture Clinic (chiropractor) while I was going. I haven't been in a while, and I could probably use a tune up.
They are a great tool for balance. I found that while working with them I was improving dramatically in my track stands on the bike. Now for the most part I never take my feet away from the pedals, even at most red lights.

May I offer doing real squats, with real weight on?

Well not really. I hate this line but you force me to say, "been there done that" And unlike most that throw out that phrase I can actually put some respectable numbers up. You try it. Then decide. I am sold. Never again will a bar go on my shoulders for the purpose of squats.

Even though I still quite enjoy barbell squats, I have to say he's right Sepanto. Those ball squats are tough! I tried at the gym today and I could barely stay on the ball, let alone squat. Then I got under the bar :D

Today I tried the stability ball squats. I stood on ball for 30 and did 3 squats while standing x5. The stability ball squats werent as has as I thought they were gonna be(they were still pretty hard) the hardest part was getting on the ball, had to use the wall for help, but once I found the balance point I only had to use the wall a little bit to regain balance

I found that getting on the ball on your knees is a good trainer. Then 1 knee, 1 foot as well. I used a fence to steady myself as needed, stood on the ball got my balance and did 1 slow full rom squat. Did this a few times. I did manage the jump, but only 1 time, and I was holding the fence with 1 hand. The other time ended up with me rolling off the ball in various forms.

I tried to do squats today on a railing, ala parkour. I got about four. This is to help with balance on rails. I'm kinda heavy so if I fall from that medicine ball, I have a feeling that I shall be in pain lol.

I did the super squat program for years. My best was 500lbs@230. Oh! gave myself a hiatel hernia (Belt to tight). Never again will a bar go on my shoulders for the purpose of squats either. Sold my Smith machine and bought a Yukon Bodyweight station + lost 60lbs :-)

I don't think I'd be able to give up heavy squatting. That's kind of easy to say at my age and without ever having had knee problems from squatting. I don't know hold old you are, hmunster, and I'm really sad that you had to give it up, 500 lbs. is a very good effort.
Did you do squats in the Smith machine? That makes you waaaay more injury prone, plus you're not getting one-third of the benefit of a real squat. Smith machine exercises "look" like weightlifting, but are very dangerous and without much effect. You'd been better off doing even leg presses than SM squats.

My PR was on a Rack. I bought the Smith so I could train without a spotter. I just turned 38.

Well, all I can say is good riddance to that piece of equipment.
Although T-nation had a good article on smith machine training. They used it for gradually increasing the intensity of more advanced BW exercises. Pretty ingenious, huh?

Yeah. Awesome site. Use the search function and type in "smith machine training". The search function there works in a weird way, but you'll find it.
EDIT: actually, I did it for you... here it is:

I use the smith machine as a coat rack. There's no way you can use good form on a smith machine for squats.
but it does make good to perform some bodyweight exercises as Fatman said.
