Okay I'm going to try and make this quick, simple and hopefully clear.
What can I add to my workout/ do differently, for upper body explosiveness? More specifically when I'm doing pull ups and push ups, I'd like to be able clap at the top of the movement. I'm sure it's something that comes with practice, but i've been working at it for a long time and I just can't quite get it. Pull and push ups are by no means difficult for me, it's just the explosive part that is. Any of your input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

You probably do them too slowly. Work on doing your bodyweight movements as fast and explosively as you can. Your rep numbers will go down but eventually you can launch yourself up, clap, whatever.

You probably can't do a lot of pushups nor pullups.
How many can you do?
Work on doing them weighted, or work on increasing the number you can do, always do the movement as fast as possible, explosive strength will come in the same time.

As for the amount I can do, I can generally do thirty pull ups and a little over 120 pushups. I don't necessarily feel I'm lacking in the amount so much as just using more explosive movements. Thanks a lot for the help.

Another possibility for clapping pullups is to kip slightly. That's what I do, and it is by no means cheating; it's just another tool in your toolbox, so use it but don't forget to do your strict form pullups. I can quite easily do 6 clapping pullups for up 10 sets, maybe more. My strict pullup repmax is 12 or so, so you should be able to do quite a few more than that in a set.

For pushing explosiveness go to 1:27 in the video
